Garrett Cook
LMHC- Intern

With over six years of direct client service in roles including certified peer counselor, vocational counselor, and mental health care professional, I bring a deeply rooted, real-world understanding to my work. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and am currently completing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling during my internship. I am certified in Motivational Interviewing, crisis response, and Mental Health First Aid, among other areas.

Before entering the mental health field, I spent 25 years as a high school coach and 15 years working in the front office of the Seattle Mariners. These experiences shaped my belief in the power of social connection, teamwork, and mental performance as key elements of personal wellness. They continue to shape how I assist clients in building confidence, developing resilience, and reconnecting with their strengths.

I take a holistic approach to wellness, understanding that emotional safety is just one part of a balanced, healthy life. I tailor my approach to meet each client’s unique needs, using evidence-based practices that include Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which combines attachment-focused and somatic work with mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

As a single father to a teenager, I bring personal life experience that often allows me to relate deeply to the challenges my clients face. I understand how complex and overwhelming life can feel, and I see therapy as a space where we can explore those layers together. It’s an honor to walk alongside my clients, offering support, insight, and care as they move toward feeling safe in both mind and body—and ultimately toward becoming the fullest version of themselves.
